Exercise 2
City Finder
The basic idea of the project is that it would be used to locate where the largest amount of people using cell phones was. Depending upon your location to the areas with more useage, the picture would change. The pictures would show a landscape with varied distances from a city. The closer you were to the people, the closer you would be to the "city."
Unfourtunately, my limited knowlege of Flash and ongoing computer problems have hampered this project. What I could complete is in the files section of the wiki under "Exercise 2.fla" The animations are complete, but the buttons are not. This is definately something that I will want to work more on and improve as I get the computer issues resolved and such.

Exercise 3
My project basically has you create, interact, and observe the ephemeral events that take place in the city. Based on following tasks, it will give you a new idea of how to look and interact with the area around you.

Final Project Proposal
Palaver
While walking on just about every street in the city, there are dozens of conversations going on. The conversations can be anything from someone talking to their mom on a cell phone to someone's drunken rambling outside a bar. There are always conversations going on in the city. My final project will be an audio tour (or pod cast) of a selected area of the city. The tour will consist of snippets of conversations that once took place on that street or block. First, I will choose the area. It will probably be one of about five blocks and located in a somewhat major area of the city. Then, I will go out and observe and record in writing conversations that are being had out in that area over the course of a few days. Each area will be observed in the morning, afternoon, and the night time. After I have collected many pieces of conversation from the area, I will then go through and sort them so that there is a nice flow to them. For the recording, light music or natural sound will be added for ambiance. The voices that I use will be those of friends and other volunteers. In the end, I hope to have a piece that makes you take a second look at the way others perceive the same space. The experience may be sad, enthusiastic, or maybe even comical. Who knows.
